Certain progress was made in 5+2 talks held in Dublin

Certain progress as regards the coordination of aspects concerning negotiation management was made in the round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format held in Dublin. The discussions will continue in the next round, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Reintegration Office. Opinions were exchanged in Dublin over the general agenda of the negotiation process. Most of the delegates said the process should be based on a comprehensive agenda that will include issues regarding the political aspects of the settlement process, economic, social and security matters, and confidence-building measures. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Irish Deputy Prime Minister Eamon Gilmore, welcomed the progress achieved in official 5+2 talks towards a Transdniestrian settlement that ended in Dublin, it is said in a press release from the OSCE Mission to Moldova. “I am encouraged by the constructive approach shown here in Dublin, and I urge the participants to build on this to finalize agreement on the principles and procedures for the conduct of negotiations as soon as possible,” said the OSCE Chairperson, who opened the meeting. ”This would enable the 5+2 to move forward on more substantial issues with a view towards a comprehensive resolution of the Transdniestrian conflict. The people living on both sides of the river deserve no less.” The Moldovan delegation asked ensuring the peaceful character of the commemoration events that will be held on March 2. The formal talks in the 5+2 format took place in Ireland’s Dublin on February 28-29. The 5+2 format includes representatives of the sides, mediators and observers in the negotiation process – Moldova, Transdniestria, the OSCE, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the US and the EU.
