The Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union will be signed in Brussels today, June 27. The ceremony starts at 10am, Chisinau’s time. Before the signature, speeches will be given by President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, and the heads of government or state who will sign the agreements with the EU on behalf of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, IPN reports, quoting the ceremony’s program.
After the signature of the accord, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will have meetings with Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and the candidate of the European People’s Party for President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junckeraa
The public TV channel Moldova 1 will broadcast a special program centering on the signing of the Association Agreement between 09:15am and 12 noon. After the signing ceremony, Iurie Leanca will make statements for the accredited media outlets.
