Centre of University Information opens contest for 2006 Merit Scholarships for best students of Moldova

The University Information Centre opens the 2006 Merit Scholarships for best students of Moldova, organised under the aegis of the Moldovan Board of Rectors with the financial assistance of Soros-Moldova Foundation, Moldova Agroindbank and Voxtel company. The programme offers annual scholarships of 1st degree worth 7,000 lei, 2nd degree worth 5,000 lei and 3rd degree worth 3,000 lei on basis of a contest. The contest welcomes 3rd-4th-grade students (4-year education programme) and 4th-5th-grade students (5-year or 6-year education programme for USMF students) from all specialties of Moldovan institutions of higher learning. They must have the average minimal mark 9 in social-humanistic sciences, 8.5 in exact, technical and medical-biological sciences,, and 8 in case of disabled and/or orphan students. Candidates will submit an application, CV, academic certificate indicating the average mark for every half-year, including marks for the 2005/2006 winter examinations and the general average mark for education. Also, the candidates will submit a recommendation letter from a professor, copies of the most relevant materials on extra-curriculum activity during university education. Disabled/orphan students must attach certifying documents issued by relevant institutions. All candidates will be invited to take a written test – an essay on a topic that will be known on the date and hour of examination. The written test is scheduled for April 15. April 14 is the deadline for application. The results of the contest will be known on May 12, while the scholarships will be awarded on May 25.
