The state-run Centre for Special Telecommunications, which services Moldovan public agencies, reported in 2007 roughly 620,000 cases of virus attacks. This information was made public this week at a joint meeting of the Information and Security Service (ISS) and the Ministry of Information Development, Info-Prim Neo reports. Over the past year, there were detected and successfully repelled more than 50 attacks on web resources, and over 11,000 attacks on information networks. In 2007, the e-mail servers of the government agencies were subjected to external attacks thrice a day on average. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev stressed the need of formulating a joint action plan for the two agencies responsible for information security to put in place a more rigid computer control system. ISS rapporteurs announced that measures to create a complex system for Moldova’s information security are already in progress.
