Government intends to reduce the illicit flow of passengers by the centralised printing of tickets for travelling by road transportation. According to a recently approved decision, tickets will include protection signs, series and number. The printing of these tickets as well as their recording, evidence, keeping and issuance will be under the competence of the State Tax Service. Tickets will be issued to transporters via territorial tax inspectorates. Authorities explain this decision with inspections at economic entities dealing with transport services which revealed numerous violations, including not issuing tickets to passengers, repeated utilisation of a single ticket and others. Through the centralised printing of tickets, the Government hopes to stop tax dodging and other similar violations. According to the Government, the travel ticket is subject to strict evidence and has a fixed price. It confirms the payment, the passenger’s right to travel, the conclusion of the transportation contract between the carrier and the passenger as well as the passenger’s compulsory insurance.
