Central Stadium to be constructed in Chisinau

The mayoralty intends to construct nearby the Circus a Central Stadium and several commercial and social-cultural edifices, on a total area of 25-30 hectares. The Mayoralty plans to start the works on 27 August 2006. The interim General Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu, declared for Info-Prim Neo that, primordially, the Mayoralty will allocate the named territory in this purpose. He states that even if several territories from the region were already transmitted to a number of 25 economic agents, the contracts will be canceled and other territories in the Chisinau municipality are to be remitted to these agents. Afterwards the local authorities will decide the implementation methods. Ursu told that by now only one economic agent showed its interest in this project, but in case more economic agents will be interested in this project an auction is to be announced for appointing the constructor. The future stadium, according to Ursu, could house international competitions and even an eventual Olympiad. The investors will be able to recuperate their investments by selling the other edifices that will be built in the region. The Mayoralty also plans to demolish small one-story houses and to construct a model district there, said Ursu, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
