The central banks of Moldova and Romania are strengthening their partnership in the contect of Moldova’s EU accession efforts. During a visit to Bucharest, the governors of the two banks, Anca Dragu and Mugur Isărescu, expressed their determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to carry out a number of joint projects in carrying out the necessary reforms for the continuation of the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
The BNR leadership reiterated its openness and willingness to support the central bank of Moldova in various areas through experience exchange and technical assistance to help the latter align the regulatory framework and financial supervision with the standards of the European Union.
During the visit, new perspectives for partnership on several dimensions were discussed, such as the development of a framework for cooperation and exchange of information between the NBM and the NBR in the field of bank resolution, international accounts, fundamental and applied research, improvement of the regulatory framework, etc.
The working visit was undertaken on January 25-26.
