The National Bank of Moldova will have the right to provide loans to the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund if this will have insufficient resources to honor the guaranteed deposits. Parliament gave a final reading to a bill to this effect on February 27, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the lending conditions, including the interest rate on loans, will be agreed by the Executive Board of the National Bank of Moldova.
The authors said the bill is aimed at adjusting the legislation to the Law on the National Committee for Financial Stability and to the law to amend a number of legislative acts adopted at the end of 2018.
Also, besides the deposits of private individuals, those of legal entities will also be guaranteed. The guarantee ceiling is 50,000 lei.
