The National Bank of Moldova will put into circulation eight commemorative coins as legal tender and for numismatic purposes starting with November 2, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Bank.
One of the coins, made from silver and gold, is dedicated to writer Constantin Stere and supplements the series “Alley of Classical Writers in the Public Garden “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” in Chisinau”. The golden coin has the nominal value of 100 lei and was issued in a number of 300 units. The silver coin, with the nominal value of 50, has an issue of 500 units.
Another two silver coins supplement the series “Personalities” and are dedicated to two representative names for the literature and theater of Bessarabia: Grigore Vieru and Constantin Constantinov. These have the nominal value of 100 and 50 lei and have an issue of 1,000 and 500 units.
The silver coins dedicated to Maria Biesu and the Pommer Manson inaugurate two series – “Famous Women and “Lordly Mansions”. Both of them have the nominal value of 50 lei and were issued in a number of 500 units.
The series “Holy Places” is supplemented by the coin “Wooden Church “Assumption of the Virgin Mary”, Village Museum, Chisinau”, which has the nominal value of 50 lei and an issue of 500 pieces.
The coin “Moor Tortoise” of the series “Red Bok of the Republic of Moldova” has the nominal value of 50 lei and an issue of 500 units.
The commemorative and jubilee coins are sold by licensed banks at a price that can be by up to 3% higher than that set by the National Bank.
