Central authorities invite Tiraspol experts to talks with EU

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov reiterated the invitation to Tiraspol to delegate experts as observers to the talks on the creation of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU. The invitation was made in a working meeting with Tiraspol’s political representative to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks Nina Shtanski, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Reintegration Office, the meeting took place at the office of the OSCE Mission in Bender on March 14. Eugen Karpov stressed the importance of maintaining the dialogue between the political representatives to the negotiation process at a high level so as to intensely promote the confidence-building measures, ensure the free movement of people and goods between the two banks of the Nistru and solve the problems faced by the population. The interlocutors conferred on the prospects of cooperating in building confidence between the two sides of the river, including by restoring the freight train routes, normalizing the situation in the area of postal services and stepping up the activity of the sector working groups. Emphasis in the discussion was laid on the radioactive sources stored at different Transnistrian companies. A protocol decision was signed in the meeting to regulate the transportation and storing of these sources. This initiative had been promoted by the Moldovan authorities for several years. It was agreed that the coordinators of the working groups of Chisinau and Tiraspol will have a joint meeting on March 19.
