Center of resources and development for Transnistria opens in Cosnita

“Promo-Lex” Association has inaugurated a Center of resources and development for Transnistria in Cosnita village, Dubasari raion, Ion Manole, head of the Association announced Tuesday November 21. According to Manole, the project’s purpose is to contribute to the process of democratization and development of the region by facilitating free access to information, improvement and consolidation of the nongovernmental sector, promoting and protecting human rights. Performing advocacy activities, the Center will inform mass-media, national and international authorities about the problems that people in Transnistria incur. The Center will also offer recommendations on consolidation of the civil society and independent press in the region. The source mentioned that the idea to create this Center appeared in 2005, when an increased interest in this respect was felt according to the petitions coming on the part of the people. The strategy for opening the Center just in the given settlement was reasoned by the fact that it is located in the middle of the Transnistrian region, which facilitates the access of all potential beneficiaries. The Center started its activity on November 1. Till now, the institution’s employees assisted a nongovernmental organization in preparing the documents for registration, and another one – in drawing up a project. The respective project is financially supported by the National Endowment for Democracy. The project’s budget is of USD 30,000 for a 12-month period.
