The Center of French Resources and Culture in Tiraspol has moved to a new office. The inauguration ceremony on March 26 was attended by the French Ambassador to Moldova Pierre Andrieu and a delegation of the French Alliance headed by its secretary general Jean-Claude Jacq, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports.
The cooperation with the Tiraspol-based university “Taras Shevchenko”, where the Center is based, started in 2003. A number of important projects have been implemented since then, said Adrian Cibotaru, deputy director of the French Alliance's Office in Moldova. Every year, the French Alliance helps organize the Days of Francophonie, the Festival of Pianistic Nights and the Francophone Film Festival.
If the French language and culture contributes to the creation of a better world, then the French Alliance and the French authorities will continue to make effort to support this process, regardless of the place and country, Ambassador Pierre Andrieu said, adding that the number of persons who want to study French is on the rise.
This thing was confirmed by the Tiraspol university's rector Stepan Beril. The Center of French Resources and Culture in Tiraspol is a platform for cooperation and dialogue, said Galina Azemko, the chair of the university's Romanian Language Department.
The French Alliance has branches in 33 countries. According to the French Embassy in Chisinau, about 400,000 persons studied French in Moldova in 2008. In 2009, this figure rose by about 100,000.
