Centenarians will enjoy 5,000 lei annual benefits

Centenarians will receive annually, for their birthdays, sums of 5,000 lei. The benefits will be paid from the local social assistance funds, at the order of the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child. According to the statistics provided by the social assistance agencies, Moldova is home to 77 persons – 7 men and 70 women – who reached or will reach this year the age of 100. The oldest citizen of Moldova is a 109-year-old woman living in Cosauti village, Soroca district. Pelinia, in Drochia district, is the village which has the biggest number of long-living persons. As many as four centenarians live here. Lonely people without first- or second-degree relatives enjoy social assistance services at home.
