The Central Election Commission decided that snap local mayoral elections will be held on May 15, 2022 in Zastânca village of Soroca district and in Moara de Piatră village of Drochia district, IPN reports.
In Zastânca, the post of mayor became vacant following the death of the mayor, while in Moara de Piatră after the mayor tendered his resignation.
Earlier, the CEC decided that new local mayoral elections the same day will take place in Ghetlova village of Orhei district and in Horodiște village of Rezina district.
The Electoral Code provides that the date of snap elections is set within 30 days of the ascertaining of the circumstances stipulated by law, at least 60 days before the election day, on condition that elections are held simultaneously at most two times a year, in spring and in autumn.
