CEC rejects complaints from two contestants

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has rejected the complaints submitted by the Communists Party (PCRM) and by Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) in which the companies ask to penalize the public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PCRM's representative at the CEC, Sergiu Sarbu has asked to penalize Teleradio-Moldova because from February 8 to 19, Moldova 1 TV would have favored the AMN, offering more airtime than to other electoral competitors. The CEC rejected the request invoking that the video recordings did not prove breeches were committed. In its complaint against Moldova 1, the AMN complaints that on March 2, in the television's newscast, a report was aired about the sitting of the Supreme Security Council showing PCRM candidates Vladimir Voronin (Moldova's president) and Andrei Stratan (foreign minister). A similar request was lodged against the private TV company NIT. The CEC members have established that “those materials do not contain interviews or statements by top dignitaries communicating information about their activities.”
