The Central Election Commission (CEC) rejected the application of “Young Moldova” Association to accredit national observers to oversee the November 30 legislative elections. The decision was taken in the October 15 meeting of the Commission, IPN reports.

According to rapporteur Vasile Gafton, the extract concerning the association’s inclusion in the State Register of Non-Commercial Organizations, presented by “Young Moldova”, expired on April 4, 2014, while the association’s leader Denis Doga is a member and a candidate on the list of candidates of the Communist Party. In the local general elections of 2011, the CEC annulled the accretion of the observers designated by the given association because they obstructed the work of the electoral bodies, resorted to use of violence and showed that they didn’t know the requirements towards electoral functionaries as regards the holding of elections in appropriate conditions.

”In these conditions, the CEC considers that the association cannot be authorized to field observers to supervise the parliamentary elections because its observers were unable to ensure an independent, impartial and correct monitoring of the elections in accordance with the law.

The association asked accrediting ten persons as observers. In the meeting, the association’s representative Yevgeny Ceban said that he never behaved violently in 2011 as observer.
