The Shor Party’s candidates for MP in the national constituency weren’t registered for the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. The registration decision didn’t garner the necessary number of votes in the January 3 meeting of the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.

The Commission invoked the non-observance of the statutory procedures concerning the fielding of candidates for MP and the approval of the list of candidates as violations concerning the powers of the party’s president were identified.

CEC member Vasile Gafton said that according to the legal norms, the party’s president approves, signs and presents the list of candidates to the electoral bodies, but when the list is submitted to the CEC, this is not signed by the president.

The party can eliminate the irregularities until January 24, which is the deadline by which parties can submit the documents for being registered as electoral contenders to the CEC. The CEC numbers proposed reexamining the issue in the next meeting of the Commission, if the irregularities are removed.

The Shor Party filed the documents for registration on December 27. The list includes 51 candidates. According to representatives of the Shor Party, the list of candidates was compiled by observing the women’s quota of 40%.
