The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) on Wednesday became the first parties to file their applications with the Central Election Commission (CEC) in a bid to become electoral competitors in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for July 29, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We hope to have another government after the early parliamentary elections. We also hope to have a campaign where rules will be respected. At the same time, we hope to have the support of the European observers so that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner”, said Leonid Bujor, candidate running on AMN's ticket.
PLDM leader Vlad Filat, accompanied by the vice president of the party, Alexandru Tanase, said he expects the campaign to be rough, “because there are practically no premises for a free campaign”. “In this campaign we'll come with a clear message that will aim at mobilizing citizens to vote freely and democratically”, said Filat.
At 5:00 pm a drawing of lots will be held to determine the preliminary order of the parties in the ballots.
Applications for registration with CEC will be accepted through July 7, inclusive.
Qualified for registration are 28 political parties registered with the Ministry of Justice and any person meeting the criteria of an independent candidate.
