The Central Election Commission (CEC) submitted a proposal to the parliamentary commission for appointments and immunities, suggesting transferring the centers where the students file applications for obtaining voting certificates from district heads’ offices to higher education establishments, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will wait for the parliamentary commission’s decision,” said the CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan. On September 9, the Parliament passed amendments to the Election Code, which facilitate the exercise of the right to vote by students. Under the amendment bill, the students who have the domicile in another settlement than the one where they study will be able to vote at any of the local polling places with the identity card and the student card, after filling out a statement whereby they commit themselves not to vote again at another polling station. Next week, the Parliament is to adopt the bill in second reading.
