The second round of general local elections will be held on November 3. A decision in this regard was approved by the Central Electoral Commission during today's meeting, October 23.

According to Dorin Cimil, CEC chairman, the draft will be forwarded to the electoral councils, which will subsequently inform the electoral competitors.

The second round of general local elections will be held in 380 settlements throughout the country.

The two candidates with the most votes in the first round of the October 20 elections will proceed to the second round and will be registered in the ballot papers in descending order based on the number of votes accumulated in the first round.

If one of the two candidates withdraws from the electoral race no later than 7 days before voting day, the election will be held between the remaining candidate and the candidate who came in third after the first round.

Voting in the second round of the general local elections will be based on the same electoral rolls used in the first round.

518 mayors were elected in the first election round which took place on October 20.
