The persons that do not have temporary or permanent registration at the place of staying indicated in the identification papers and did not file applications to district head’s offices and mayors’ offices in due time will be able to vote in the polling places set up at their last registration place, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), if such a decision had not been made, about 68,000 people would have been deprived of the right to vote on April 5. “These persons will be directed to a certain polling place,” the CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said.
CEC member Mihai Busuleac said that it would have been easier if these voters had been allowed to choose the voting place by themselves. “Anyway, the stamp “Elections 05.04.09” will be put in the identification papers and the multiple voting will be avoided,” Busuleac said. He also said that not all the voters are ready to cover sometimes rather long distances to exercise their right to vote and simply give up.
The decision was passed on March 20 by the vote of 7 members of the Commission.
