The electoral process generally goes normally, without major incidents, said the president of the Central Election Commission Dorin Cimil. Over 600,000 citizens voted by midday, IPN reports.

All the polling stations established in Europe and Asia are functional. The polling stations in the U.S. and Canada will be opened in several hours. Over 70,000 Moldovans cast their ballots abroad by noon. The turnout at some of the polling stations in Italy, France, Ireland, Romania, the UK, Portugal and Greece is average or low. The most popular are the polling stations in Bologna (two), Paris, Parma, Verona, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main (2), Padova and Brescia. In connection with the pandemic, CEC calls on the diaspora to vote by obeying all the protection measures imposed by the host countries.

Over 16,000 citizens voted at the 41 polling stations set up for voters from the left side of the Nistru.

According to Dorin Cimil, CEC until now received a report about campaigning on election day. This was transmitted to the General Police Inspectorate for examination. There were also received two reports - concerning late opening of a polling station in Florești, due to Internet connection problems, and a video with sequences of a polling station in The Hague, regarding the insufficient voting infrastructure. CEC will inform about these reports later.

In Bâc and Cigârleni villages of Ialoveni district, locals vote in two special tens. Voting there goes smoothly.

Dorin Cimil reminded of the campaign “Go and get a vaccine after voting!” and called on the people to get vaccinated. The vaccination units today are open until 9pm.
