The Central Election Commission (CEC) observed the law in the process of recounting the votes, the Commission’s secretary Iurie Ciocan said when asked to comment on the PCRM’s assertions that the vote recount failed, Info-Prim Neo reports. “If one or several election runners believe that their rights were somehow limited, they can appeal to court to seek justice. We did everything in accordance with the Election Code,” Iurie Ciocan stated. He stressed that the law bans photographing, copying or transcribing the electoral registers. In a press briefing, representatives of the PCRM said the electoral authorities did not allow them to examine the voter lists and that a number of sacks with ballots disappeared from the polling places where the ballots were to be recounted. The same day, the Chisinau Court of Appeals rejected two applications whereby the PCRM asked verifying the rolls used in the November 28 early parliamentary elections.
