The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the nominal composition of the second level district electoral councils, excepting Bender.
The majority of the councils are composed of 11 persons, of whom two were proposed by the raion or municipal councils, two judges, and the remainder - by political parties, according to the number of seats in Parliament. Four second level councils (Basarabeasca, Dubasari, Falesti and Taraclia) have nine members.
CEC Chairman Eugen Stirbu said that all the legal provisions were respected when approving the members of the raion councils. He said that the decision approved today will be sent tomorrow morning to all the raion councils, which have to elect the chairman, deputy-chairman and the secretary. Afterwards all electoral candidates will be free to file in their candidacies.
At the same time, the CEC chairman said that the nominal composition of Bender Council was not yet approved, because the list of candidates was not presented.
General Local Elections will take place on June 3, 2007.
