The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved the probable expenditure estimate for the organization and holding of the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021. This is of 125.046,7 million lei, IPN reports.

“The figures and practice of the previous elections show that about 83% of the funds allocated from the state budget are usually spent on the organization and holding of elections. As the Commission habitually overestimates the costs intended for the organization and holding of elections, about 102.5 million lei will be actually spent on the snap parliamentary elections,” said CEC member Sergiu Gurduza.

Even if he considers the estimate was inflated, Sergiu Gurduza noted that he voted for the expenditure estimate for the reason that the existence of an overestimated budget is better for the voters than the absence of a budget needed for conducting the elections.

The adopted decision will be submitted to the Government for this to identify and allocate the financial resources needed for the organization and holding of elections.
