The Central Electoral Commission approved the estimated budget for conducting the October 2024 presidential election and constitutional referendum. The estimated cost of the partial implementation of voting by mail was also approved.
The amount of 37,566,650 lei is proposed for conducting the national referendum, and another 19,661,800 lei for the partial implementation of the postal vote. In the case of the presidential election, an additional 3,875,150 lei was identified as necessary.
The funds will be used to buy office supplies, electoral materials, postal services, pay allowances for electoral officials and staff, develop and maintain information systems.
The estimates of additional expenses will be submitted to the Government to ensure the allocation from the state budget of the financial resources necessary for the organization and conduct of the elections, including for the partial implementation of postal voting.
