The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban and the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase in debates on ProTV Chisinau channel explained how they intend to deliver their electoral promises, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban during the next few years aims to bring at least 80 news units of public transport to the municipality. Municipal funds have been already earmarked for purchasing a part of these, while the others will be bought by attracting available financial resources from different countries and international institutions. The earmarked 72 million lei enable to assembly 20 new trolleybuses and the over 30 million lei planned can be used as a guarantee for purchasing 50 new buses, in installments. This could be done during two years. If the necessary number of buses is purchased in the period, the minibuses could be withdrawn in five years.
The Socialist candidate also said he plans to fully or partially rehabilitate 80-90 kindergartens. If he is elected mayor, Ion Ceban will not run in the parliamentary elections and will not campaign for the Party of Socialists in autumn. He will also not defect to the Democratic Party, as he did several years ago, when he defected from the Party of Communists to Igor Dodon’s party.
Andrei Nastase promised he will also increase the number of buses and trolleybuses that run on routes in Chisinau and will lay out the public transport stations and equip them with electronic boards. “We will bring things in order in the public transport sector. We will create conditions for gradually introducing better, more efficient alternative transport, of a higher quality, which will be to the benefit of all the inhabitants,” stated the candidate, noting a very thorough audit is needed at the Electric Transport Company and the Urban Bus Company.
Andrei Nastase said he has very good solutions for dealing with the problem of billboards. He noted the sum allotted for feeding a child at kindergartens will be raised to at least 40 lei. He will make sure the planned revenues are collected by eliminating all the schemes by which public funds are embezzled.
The candidate promised that if he is elected mayor of Chisinau municipality, he will not leave mayoralty for the seat of MP as a result of this autumn’s parliamentary elections.
