Ceadir-Lunga councilor was murdered in a bank

Local councilor from Ceadir-Lunga Serghei Ganev, whose body was found in a forest on May 8, was murdered in the bank where he kept his money and then moved to the place his body was found, Info-Prim Neo learned from www.gagauzinfo.md. Head of the Department of the Interior Dmitri Arabadji presented a report on the murder before the Executive Committee of Gagauzia. According to Arabadji, the councilor was murdered on May 1 before the Unibank HQ in Ceadir-Lunga, where he kept his money. His body was moved outside the city with a minibus. A week after the murder, the bank’s local director and main suspect Alexandru Ghenov used his function to withdraw all the money- 4 million lei cash. In the presence of the cashiers, he loaded the money into his car and ran away. The police say one of the cashiers even helped him transport the money. Dmitri Arabadji said that the suspect’s service car was found on May 11 at some locals, two of whom were arrested for stealing it. According to operative intelligence, Ghenov together with his wife and two children crossed the border of Ukraine and Russia in his Lexus car on May 8. An international wanted notice was issued against Ghenov. He is suspected of intentional murder and misappropriation in large amounts. The victim left his house on May 1 and never returned. His body was found not far away from his car. According to some information, he had a serious sum of money. Before that, he had withdrawn $200,000 from his account. Previously, Serghei Ganev had been chairman of Ceadir-Lunga Town Council. At the time of his death, he was a local councilor and entrepreneur in the field of constructions.
