Before the winter holidays, the public association “Child, Community, Family” (CCF Moldova) has launched a platform for collecting finds online for children from socially deprived families - www.donatii.md, IPN reports.

“The pandemic contributed to an alarming growth in the number of children facing the risk of being separated from their families. According to statistics, before the current crisis each tenth child was affected by extreme poverty. This means each tenth child went to sleep hungry, dreaming of the day they will be warm and the meal will be copious,” said Tatiana Codreanu, CCF communication coordinator.

“During the first three weeks of this October, 28 children were included in the family support program of “Child, Community, Family” (CCF Moldova)”, as opposed to 71 children in the first nine months of this year. This is a worryingly large number for the organization and for the local authorities that do not have sufficient financial resources to support the vulnerable families. We realize that poverty embraces an increasing number of families in our country and the danger grows daily,” stated Tatiana Codreanu.

By this campaign, CCF aims to help over 700 children to grow near their parents, not in children’s homes during the next 12 months. Besides humanitarian aid, the members of these socially disadvantaged families will receive free advice from jurists, psychologist and social assistants.

“Many of the parents in these families found a job with difficulty, while the pandemic worsened the problem further. A number of local public authorities informed us that the local budget funds intended for paying financial support were redirected to health services after the COVID-19 started. Some of the homes in which these families live do not have electricity and the persons do not have money to purchase firewood or food for the children. There are houses whose windows do not have glass and are covered with polyethylene,” noted Tatiana Codreanu.

The given families will get not money, but the products they need. “Each donation is fully used to support and strengthen the family environments for Moldova’s children.”

During the next few months, www.donatii.md will distribute educational movies that will show to local NGOs how they can raise funds.
