CCCEC will be monitored by Civil Council

The Government decided to create the Civil Council for Monitoring the Center for Combated Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC). It recommended the Anticorruption Alliance, which brings together a number of NGOs, to organize a contest to select candidates that want to form part of the council within a month, Info-Prim Neo reports. The council will be composed of nine persons that will serve on the council for six years. The composition of the council will be modified gradually, once in two years. The candidates must be citizens of Moldova older than 25, be graduates of a higher education establishment and have no criminal record. They must not hold public posts. The persons that had worked for CCCEC during the last two years are not eligible. The council will monitor the administrative, operational and personnel policies, will assess the results achieved by CCCEC under the plan of action and will approve the draft expenditure estimate. It will also deal with applications from citizens and will remit them to the relevant authorities. The Civil Council will have the right to ask CCCEC to present reports on the used disciplinary punishments and to ask for information from other institutions about corruption cases committed by the CCCEC employees. The post of Civil Council secretary will be held by a person from the Government’s Apparatus, appointed by the Prime Minister. The secretary will have the duty of insuring the smooth work of the council.
