The Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC) will hold its first meeting with the Civil Council, a body set up to supervise CCCEC's activity, on Thursday, January 22 at the CCCEC headquarters, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to CCCEC's press unit, at the meeting, the Civil Council members will be introduced to the CCCEC leadership and priorities for the activity of Council will be outlined.
In October 2008, the Government set up the Civil Council for the supervision of CCCEC, within the framework of Moldova's Threshold Country Plan funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The Council's make-up was selected through competition in December 2008. Its members will work on a voluntary basis. Only participation in ordinary and extraordinary meetings will be remunerated, as in the case of the municipal councilors, with a pay equal to 10 percent of the daily wage of a regular public functionary.
