The Constitutional Court (CC) was asked to rule whether a member of the Cabinet is obliged or not to come to the parliamentary hearings when they are summoned to appear before the MPs. The challenge was filed by a group of Liberal MPs on November 11, IPN reports.

The Liberals requested interpreting a number of articles of the Constitution and stating if a member of the Government should come to Parliament when a relevant proposal submitted by an MP is accepted by the majority of MPs or the invitation should be accepted without conditions.

MP Valeriu Munteanu, one of the authors of the application, said the ministers now do not obey the constitutional norms. Starting with 2009, almost 1/2 of the Cabinet members didn’t present themselves before the MPs to answer their questions after the Government was given a vote of no confidence. The relevant requests were groundlessly rejected by the parliamentary majority, which represents a violation of the right to exercise parliamentary control.

The CC should pronounce on the issue within six months.
