The Constitutional Court will examine President Maia Sandu’s application to ascertain the circumstances that justify the dissolution of Parliament of the tenth legislature on April 15, starting at 10am, IPN reports.

Only invited persons will have access to the meeting hall, while the representatives of the media and those interested could follow the meeting online, the CC noted in a press release. After the judgment is passed, the Court’s president Domnica Manole will give a press briefing.

On March 29, President Maia Sandu requested the Constitutional Court to ascertain the constitutional circumstances that justify the dissolution of Parliament. The move followed the consultations she held with the parliamentary groups on March 26 and 29. President Sandu said then that Parliament failed to vote in a Government by two attempts during 45 days of the first request to invest an executive, while the Chicu Government resigned over three months ago.

The Socialist MPs and the members of the For Moldova parliamentary platform that includes the MPs of the Shor Party consider Parliament cannot be dissolved as there is a formalized majority that is ready to assume responsibility for governance.
