The Constitutional Court (CC) rejected the Party of Socialists’ request to suspend the effect of the President’s degree to nominate Igor Grosu for Prime Minister. The Court said the Socialist MPs’ application is admissible and this will be examined on March 22, starting at 10am, IPN reports.

After negotiations held with the parliamentary groups on March 16, President Maia Sandu said that she took note of Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership and, as there was no candidate supported by a formalized parliamentary majority, she decided to propose PAS president Igor Grosu for Prime Minister. On March 17, the Party of Socialists challenged the presidential decree in the Constitutional Court and the next day announced the formation of a parliamentary majority that proposed current Ambassador of Moldova to Russia Vladimir Golovatiuc for Prime Minister.
