The president of the Constitutional Court Domnica Manole said the exercise of any form of pressure on the Court’s judges before the adoption of jurisdictional documents and also as an act of revenge for the adopted solutions is inadmissible and is incompatible with the observance of the rule of law, the authority of the Court and the preeminence of the Constitution. The statement was made after the PSRM announced that it will initiate a draft decision on the usurpation of state power by the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.
“I consider it necessary to remind in this connection that the judges of the Constitutional Court fulfill the essential role of guardians of the Construction and its values. The Constitutional Court is a referee of the separation of powers in the state,” noted Domnica Manole.
According to her, the mature politicians should take into account the adverse, profound and long-lasting implications for the state of such a type of attack on the constitutional judges. “Who has the culture of constitutionalism should obey the solutions of the Court,” was the CC president’s message.
The PSRM announced that it will put forward a draft Parliament decision by which it will ascertain the usurpation of the Constitutional Court by three judges of the High Court (Domnica Manole, Liuba Șova and Nicolae Roșca) in the political interest of the President, the violation of the oath taken before Parliament and will ask for the resignation of the three judges.
