The Constitutional Court in the recent past, given the importance of the decision it was to make on the circumstances for dissolving Parliament, was subject to attacks by politicians and journalists. But the attacks on the judges endanger the position of the CC as the guarantor of the supremacy of the Constitution, confidence and public respect, CC president Domnica Manole stated in a press briefing after announcing the Court’s decision that Parliament can be dissolved, IPN reports.

“On this occasion, I ask the representatives of the political forces and those of the press not to undermine the image and credibility of the constitutional judges in society. Last week, such practices reached worrisome proportions. Later, even if such statements are withdrawn or made public afterward, the damage done to the Court’s image and the effects are irreversible,” stated Domnica Manole, noting that all the conditions for dissolving Parliament were met.

The decision is definitive, cannot be channeled, takes effect when it is adopted and is published in the Official Gazette. Two separate opinions on the decision were formulated by Vladimir Țurcan and Sergey Țurcan (dissident opinion). The opinions of the two CC judges haven’t been yet published.
