The decision of the Constitutional Court (CC) concerning the unconstitutionality of the President’s decree to designate Vlad Filat as Prime Minister is consultative in character, consider lawmakers of the Liberal Democratic Party, IPN reports.

After a party meeting on April 23, MP Iurie Tap told the press that the censure motion should have been analyzed much more profoundly than it was done. There were invoked arguments, but they were not fundamental, but declarative. “The censure motion does not meet the criteria about which they speak. Those who filed the challenge, focused on a very narrow area,” he stated.

His colleague Ion Butmalai said the CC decision taken by six judges is a political one. “The decision is consultative, not obligatory for Parliament,” he said. He accused the Court’s president Alexandru Tanase of making political statements, in breach of his powers.

After the Constitutional Court gave its verdict on Monday evening, the spokesman of the Prime Minister designate Igor Volnitski confirmed that there was held a Government meeting. The Premier designate Vlad Filat will state his position on the CC decision on Tuesday afternoon, at 15.00.
