After 40 days of Lent, Catholics, including Moldovan ones, are looking forward to celebrating Easter tomorrow, April 17. And this time around, without coronavirus restrictions, too.
“With have happily resumed all the ordinances prescribed by the canons, considering that there are no more restrictions in place. So, with this in mind, we have invited all our Church members to attend the holy celebrations,” Anton Coşa, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Moldova, told IPN.
“Throughout this Holy Week, starting with Monday, but especially on Thursday, many Christians have filled the Cathedral. I have barely expected to see this desire to unite with God in moments of great celebration, as is the Holy Resurrection of Jesus”, said Bishop Coşa, who officiates at the Divine Providence Cathedral in Chisinau.
The Cathedral will host the Paschal Vigil, starting Saturday at 8:00PM.
Four liturgies will be held on Sunday, April 17, at the Divine Providence Cathedral. At 9:00AM the divine service will take place in Polish, at 10:30AM in Russian, at 12:00PM in Romanian, and at 6:00PM again in Russian.
“The Holy Scripture tells us that through the Resurrection of Christ, a new hope has been kindled in us. I encourage Christians to live these days with a spirit of trust in the good God. We are convinced that even tears of pain can turn into tears of joy, darkness can turn into light, being aware that God remains with us”, says Bishop Coşa, giving his blessing.
Moldova is home to about 20,000 Catholics. Orthodox Christians will celebrate Easter next week, on April 24.
