Moldovan halfback Catalin Carp made his debut for CFR Cluj in an official match. He took the field before the last quarter of the game against Rapid Bucuresti, of the 1/8 finals of Romania’s Cup, IPN reports.
His performance at the stadium in Giulesti helped CFR to recover significantly. Carp went on to the field when the score was 1-0 for Rapid. Lopes tied in the 79th minute, while Chanturia scored the victory goal in the 87th minute, from a kick given by Catalin Carp. The 21-year-old halfback signed with CFR Cluj in summer after leaving Dinamo Kiev.
The teams that qualified for the quarterfinals of Romania’s Cup are: CFR Cluj, Mioveni, Steaua, Targu Mures, Craiova, Universitatea Cluj, Pandurii, and Petrolul.
