The Government has allocated 10.8 million lei from its Reserve Fund to reward 13 Moldovan athletes that participated in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as their coaches, physicians and therapists.

The largest cash prizes, of 2 million lei each, will go to canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi, a bronze medal winner, and to his coach Nicolae Juravschi, himself a former Olympian.

Other cash prizes range from 20,000 to 600,000 lei. The list of recipients is available on the Government’s website.

Education Minister Anatolie Topală said that should the awardees be stripped of their Olympic achievements for whatever reason, the awards must be returned within 90 days.
