Cases of respiratory infections double in number

The number of cases of respiratory infections in the municipality of Chisinau has doubled during a week. As many as 4,462 patients have been recorded so far this year. Of them, 2,743 are children, Info-Prim Neo reports. Health Division head Luminita Suveica said that 106 new cases of seasonal flu were reported last week. Three persons died after developing complications. These were three men aged 51, 57 and, respectively, 62. “We cannot yet talk about an epidemic. We will see how things evolve over the next three weeks,” said Luminita Suveica. The doctor recommended avoiding crowded places, eating products rich in vitamins, and using protection masks. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said special rules should be introduced in the public institutions and public units of transport so as to prevent cases of infection.
