The outbreaks of bird flu have been registered neither in Chisinau nor in the country, unlike the human flu that put on alert Moldova, the state veterinary chief doctor Radu Mudreac stated during the session of the municipal Committee for Emergency Cases, Info-Prim Neo reports. As Mudreac says, a plan of prophylactic measures to prevent the bird flu is underway, while the actions of isolating fowls have been intensified in Chisinau suburbs, so as to avoid the contact with the migratory birds. At the same time, Mudreac says, employees at the Veterinary Service and local authorities continue to instruct the people regarding the necessity of closing fowls and call the hotline in case of suspicions of bird flu. A more difficult situation is attested regarding the human flu and severe viruses, head of the Municipal Centre for Preventive Medicine Iurie Panzaru stated at the same meeting. According to the Public Relations Service of the City Hall, interim mayor Veaceslav Iordan requested the specialized services “to monitor the circulation of the flu viruses and severe viral respiratory infections in Chisinau and inform population about the epidemiologic situation caused by the flu and measures to prevent this disease.” About 16,000 cases of respiratory infections, including over 600 cases of flu have been reported so far.
