The prosecutors completed the investigation into the rigging of tender contests to supply Chisinau kindergartens with food products that involved nine persons and sent the cases to court, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, those accused include four public functionaries, who are employees of the Buiucani Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the Hancesti District Hospital and the Ministry of Defense, and representatives of business entities that took part in the contests. These are accused of passive corruption, active corruption, influence peddling, abuse of power and misuse of authority and were placed under judicial control.
It was determined that following a preliminary agreement, a number of companies that had the same founder took part in the contests with different bids. To be favored, the business entities paid particular sums of money to public functionaries monthly or for each tender contest apart.
The culprits face jail terms, fines and bans. The cases will be examined by the Buiucani-based Court of Chisinau on June 8 and 23.
The investigation of another 15 suspects goes on.
