The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent to court the criminal case started against former MP Constantin Țuțu on two counts – influence peddling and swindle in considerable amounts, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the ex-MP asked for and received €20,000 from the relatives of a man for influencing prosecutors so that the culprit was set free. In reality, he could not exert such influence.
As to the third count – unjust enrichment – the investigation goes on under a separate case. The prosecutors are waiting for the conclusions of the Crime Assets Recovery Agency so as to take a decision.
This March, the former MP yielded up voluntarily to the police in Moldova, at the Leușeni-Albița customs post. He is now investigated outside custody and was banned from leaving the place of residence.
