The case of the former manager of the network of gas stations “Tirex-Petrol” Igor Borș was sent to court. The businessman pleads not guilty. He was recently set free after being held for a year given that the remand detention cannot last longer than 12 months, according to the law.

Contacted by IPN, lawyer Victor Munteanu said Igor Borș is accused of laundering money when buying shares from a company that owned the network of gas stations Vento. The accusation is unfounded and they will prove this.

The lawyer also said that attempts were made to create a connection between his client and convicted businessman Veaceslav Platon. To show that there is no connection between the two and that they do not know each other, he went to court and asked for a meeting with Platon. There is a definitive court decision saying there is no such a tie.

“The name of Veaceslav Platon was used by prosecutors exclusively to justify the extension of the remand detention. When the case was sent to court, this name disappeared from the case. And this is not the first criminal case where such a tactic is used,” stated Victor Munteanu.
