The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) of Lausanne rejected the appeal filed by the Taekwondo Federation of Moldova against the National Olympic and Sports Committee, IPN reports.
Since 2015, a number of taekwondo wrestlers have submitted complaints to the National Olympic and Sports Committee because they weren’t allowed to take part in all the qualifying competitions of the Rio Olympic Games. As a result, the Committee suspended the administration of the Taekwondo Federation for an indefinite period and the penalty was challenged at the tribunal of Lausanne. The Swiss judges upheld the Committee’s decision.
Under the CAS judgment, the Taekwondo Federation will pay 5 000 Swiss francs to the National Olympic and Sports Committee in court costs incurred in Lausanne.
