The Employers Association of Road Transport Operators (APOTA) said they will mount a protest in the central square of Chisinau on November 25. The carriers disagree with the tariff policy concerning road transport services pursued by the responsible ministry, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall was notified of the protest, as the Association informed.

The event is expected to involve about 100 participants, primarily bus drivers. So as to obey the sanitary measures, the drivers will remain inside vehicles. About 15 representatives who will maintain a distance of two meters between each other will be there outside before the press. The protest will last from 9am until 12 noon.

The carriers asked the City Hall to make sure that two traffic agents facilitate the entrance and exit of vehicles within the central square.

A month ago, the road transport operators requested to increase passenger transport fares. Recently, they informed that the legal time limit for examining and adopting a decision over their approach expired and no solution was identified. Therefore, the protests are inevitable.

Representatives of the
Employers Association of Road Transport Operators said that the operators can no longer cover their costs and such a tendency started with the first wave of rises in the price of diesel fuel earlier this year. The Association noted that due to the pandemic that has lasted for over a year and a half, the flow of passengers decreased considerably and over 1,500 drivers vacated their posts.
