The Employers Road Carriers Association intends to mount a protest in the Great National Assembly Square on October 7. According to the organizers, they will protest against the protectionism ensured by the state central bodies for the “project” to rob the bus stations, to institute a monopoly and to transform the stations into facilities for collecting money from carriers, IPN reports.

The Association says the approaches made to the Government, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and the Public Property Agency were ignored. “The public-private partnership contract of the bus terminals pursued only the goal of stealing the terminals situated in the municipality of Chisinau, the municipality of Bălți and another almost 30 district centers and of creating a monopolist body that will collect money from carriers by blackmail,” runs its press release.

According to the Association, initially the Government asked to terminate the public-private partnership contract and to return the bus stations under state ownership, but after Alexandru Vîlcu became one of the beneficiaries of this “project”, the position of the state bodies changed radically and the illegalities committed by the so-called private partner enjoy increased protection from the authorities.

“Currently, Alexandru Vîlcu and Gennady Țepordei are laying the basis for dispossessing the transportation sector of the complex of buildings called the Central Terminal that occupies an area of about 2 ha in central Chisinau,” says the press release.
