The political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol for the Transnistrian conflict settlement, Eugen Carpov and Nina Shtanski, discussed the implementation of mechanisms for managing migration flows through the central segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The discussions also focused on the confidence-building measures, including the free movement on the two banks of the Nistru River, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Reintegration Office.

Eugen Carpov underlined the importance of holding the talks by observing the principles and procedures agreed by all the participants in the 5+2 format last year. “We consider that it is imperative to respect the reached agreements and to maintain the dialogue within the existing formats, by obeying the international obligations and principles,” he stated.

The participants in the meeting pronounced on the prospects of the next round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format that will be held in Vienna, Austria, on July 16-17, 2013. They underlined the necessity of improving the dialogue between the partners involved in the negotiation process.

The representatives of the mediators of the 5+2 format talks welcomed the organization of the meeting between the chief negotiators of Chisinau and Tiraspol, voicing hope that such meetings will be held more often.
