Careless smoker dies of smoke intoxication

A 50-year old man died of smoke intoxication in his own house in Chisinau. The reason for the fire burst was a lit cigarette. According to the registering data of the Emergency Service, the call to Emergency was made by a neighbour. The man, however, could not be saved. Another man, aged 30, was admitted to hospital with a knife wound. The victim says he was stabbed in the street by a stranger. The incident took place in Botanica district, on Grenoble Street. The police are investigating the case. Over the past 24 hours, the Emergency Service was called by 651 persons.
